Happy 80th, Speed

(See The Book)

Happy Birthday, Speed!

Bob Good & Bob MacKay

(Lived next door to Speed & Connie in Holly, MI)

In the early 1970's (perhaps 1973) Speed worked for the Alban Institute at Cranbrook, Michigan. Kristi McKenzie and I were asked by Speed to serve on a committee that would deepen our understanding of the plight of poverty. He required that we leave the sheltered grounds of Cranbrook and go to the nearby city of Pontiac, a working class city of racially mixed people and extreme poverty. Our task was to try to purchase a lunch that would cost less than two dollars. Fifty years later I have never forgotten Speed's lesson.

Love you both, Bob and Bob
