I was Speed's administrative assistant for seven years. It was during the early days of the AIDS epidemic and a tough and chaotic time for me having recently lost my brother and several friends to this merciless disease.

Speed, you provided me with a welcoming and safe work home during a time when I needed to recover from the trauma of those tough days. You probably never knew how important spending time with you was in helping me cope and heal. You really made a positive difference in my life. You were a steadying presence and I knew I could count on your caring and honesty. So, I thank you Speed and hope you have a wonderful birthday!
