Happy 80th, Speed

(See The Book)

Happy Birthday, Speed!

Max Giles

(Grandson)

I have so many fond memories of grandpa speed. Memories of summers spent in boulder creek, building a giant rollercoaster out of little pieces of plastic. Grandpa would drive us to places where we could experience new things. We would go to one of the oldest skate parks in the country. Grandma and grandpa took us surfing for the first time. Whenever Speed would pick us up from the airport we would go to the same sushi place. I used to look forward to that during the whole plane ride. Exploring with grandpa and asking him all the questions created by the world around me. As I've grown up i find myself asking grandpa these questions still. Instead of calling or writing grandpa, I ask the Grandpa speed that is a part of me. The grandpa speed that will always be a part of me and my thought process. He has become so much a part of me and for that I am truly grateful. I think it's thanks to him that I try to see things from many perspectives. I try not to be clouded by my own opinions and by my preconceptions. I like the way I see the world and I don't think I would see it that way without the many conversations with my Grandpa.

Love,

Maxwell Barry Giles
