Happy Birthday, Speed!
Mary Stoody
(Daughter In Law)

Dear Speed,
I have known you most of my life. I admire you for many reasons, but what stands out most is how dedicated you are to your family. You have shown your dedication time and time again. Not only by taking on four unruly children (you must really love Connie), but with the love and support you have given to all of your grandchildren. Each one is richer for your attention.
I have two memories that I’m sure you have no idea how your actions made an impact. The first memory is when you met my dad for the first time. We met at the Rusty Scupper, in Schaumburg, Il., and my dad proceeded to have, I think, 3 Black Russians. I was mortified. My dad was a talker, but that night he never stopped talking. I guess I was afraid he wouldn’t make a good impression. Speed, you are so intelligent and poised, and I love my dad so much, that I didn’t want you to think less of him. You were so kind and respectful toward my dad, and for that I am grateful.
My next memory has to do with when I was out at the Taylor Lake road house when Winston and I started dating again. You came through the house and said hello to everyone, and stopped and put your hands on my shoulders and made a point to say how happy you were to see me. Again, like so many times, you made me feel special. Thank you.
I am so glad you are a part of my life and I hope to celebrate many more birthdays with you.
Love, Mary
