Happy 80th, Speed

Happy Birthday, Speed!

Bill McKinney

(President of the Pacific School of Religion)

Dear Speed,

Linda joins me in sending congratulations on your 80th birthday!

I’m happy our paths have crossed so often over those years. From working together on the Handbook for Congregational Studies to many years with Alban, to teaching many summers at Hartford Seminary to working together in various roles as colleagues at PSR, our work lives have been intertwined. All of your publications even survived our move from Berkeley to Cape Cod and remain on my library shelves even today.

I wish we were closer and that we could drop by to say hello!

Our life here is great. I retired with over a million miles so we get to travel to interesting places, Greece in a couple of weeks and India in January. I’m still taking on consulting assignments with local churches three or four times a year, which I enjoy and we both keep active in volunteer positions.

Hope you have a great party surrounded by family and friends.

With great respect to you, my friend.
